Maintaining Staff Well-being & Work Stress
After speaking with Lori, owner of Copper Bumpus Insurance Agency, we were able to connect on a lot of personal levels during my interview. She gave me insights on how we should balance and deal with stress. She helped me understand that before we can take care of everyone, we have to take care of ourselves. She mentioned that at times it could get stressful assisting clients to and dealing with their financial situations. Dealing with a lot of clients' stress can be reckless for the employees.
Financial counselors need to be supported to ensure their well-being to provide quality services to clients (Griffiths et al., 2011). support from their supervisor and coworkers may help with their stress levels and job satisfaction. A large number of cases can increase clients' waiting times. Clients want assistance as soon as possible, and financial counselors, who are empathetic to their client's situations, do not want to keep the clients waiting. Large caseload plus lower compensation equals stressed and burnt-out counselors. Leaders should support and encourage financial counselors to further develop their skills to help them feel satisfied with their job.
